A Friend's Visit

Last thursday, i am glad that i had a chance to meet a friend from washington, i met her in friendster and constantly talk to her from time to time thru chat. Her and her hubby visited florida, for couple days. I am happy that i got my first off from work that they still here. It was so nice to meet her and her hubby in person. Archeologist Find Ancient Army Headquarter

The Egyptians Archeologist have discovered what they say was the ancient headquarters of the Pharaonic army guarding the northeastern borders of Egypt for more than 1,500 years, the Government said.

The Archeologist, led by Abdel Maksoud have been working on forts along the road since 1986 and the incriptions the found this year clinched the identification.

MUD-BRICK FORTRESS
The site contains the remains of a mud-brick fortress dating from the time of Ramses II and measuring 500 meters (547 yards) by 250 meters, with towers four meters high, it said.
"Initial studies at the site prove that this fort was the headquarters of the Egyptian army from the time of the New Kingdom until the Ptolemaic period," it said. The New Kingdom began in about 1570 BC and the Ptolemaic period ended with the death of Cleopatra in the first century BC.
"The archaeological features of this fort confirm the inscriptions on ancient Egyptian temples showing the shape of the city of Tharu, which lay at the start of the Horus military road," the statement added.
The statement said the site contains the first New Kingdom temple ever found in northern Sinai, and warehouses where the ancient Egyptian army stored grain and weapons, as well as ovens, seals and earthenware vessels.

Celphone to Choose?

My hubby talking about getting me a celphone now that i know how to drive and have job. He said that it really needed specially for emergency cases like when am driving and car break down out of no-where at least i can call some help if that happen.

UN Aid Workers and Peace Keeper Raping Children

What a disgusting story i read in the news today and i felt so sad about it. Because people that we thought a good samaritan, good example because they are helping people that victims of war but they are also victimize the kids by raping them for a few dollars in exchange. Children as young as 6 years old said been force to have sex with Humanitarian Aid Workers and Peacekeepers in return for food and money. Isn't it so disgusting? What is Memorial Day?

Today is my first Memorial Day here and i don't understand what its mean. So, i make a research what is all about. Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War l to include casualties of any war or military action.
To many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moments of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. US eastern time. Another tradition is to fly the US flag at half staff from dawn until noon. And volunteers usually place flags in every grave in National Cemetery.
Memorial day is also used as time for picnics, barbecues, family togethers, sporting events.

My First Day at Word

My first day at work at restaurant was really tiring, because its a fast food restaurant that near in the shopping and people go crazy at lunch time. Yeheeee, I got a Job!

Yesterday, when my hubby went to the restaurant he built because theres need to be repair. The owners of the restaurant was there and the talked and because they knew me also, they asked how am doing? And my hubby told them that am looking for a job, so they offer i can apply there. They told my hubby to tell me to came there today, so i went there just filling up an application and little che-chat and done he he. And i will start tomorrow morning. Doctor Impostor

This guy wearing white uniform of a doctor isn't really doctor, he caught on surveillance camera in one of the children's hospital here in jacksonville and they have no idea who is he. The guy being seen walking in hospital hall and even in the operating room. Wasn't clear how he able to get in, but as many real doctor's and nurses get in and going in the hospital, of course no one can recognize who's the real and fake. Scary, isn't it?

According to the police, the fake doctor stopped by hospital staff members and they smell alcohol came from his breath so, the staff start asking questions. And the man left. And later that day, employee found the black bag that man carrying that day . The bag was under the car in the parking garage and it contained everything the man was wearing that day that seen in the surveillance video.

Police said, it appear to be isolated incidents but other hospital in the area have had several reports of stolen laptops and purses in recent months. But still isn't it scary thinking that fake doctor is in children's hospital or even in other hospitals.

Airlines Adding Passenger Fees?

My GPS

My hubby thought that now i got my driver's license i can drive anywhere alone. And he don't want me to get lost, so he's thinking to get me a GPS so i will know my way home. GPS is really helpful for those who is not familiar the places yet like me. Jacksonville is the biggest city in the states, many roads and streets that it hard to remember. My hubby even said that he live here in jax for more than 20 years but he still get lost.
And here is my GPS, we order it online in walmart online store because they don't have stock in the store we went to last saturday. I expected to get it today but the it came one day advance. Now, i'm ready to drive around again he he.

Every morning i love having tea instead of coffee. I like the chamomile flavor with honey and lemon. I didn't buy or will buy a tea that already has a lemon on it, i am the one will put a few drops of lemon i like the taste better.

Reason why Gas burst Up?

According to CNNMoney.com some reasons why gas prices burst up like hell are these:

1. Demand Pressure since 2004. One of the common reasons why the gas price jump like crazy is the supply and demand-we are using more oils in which will accounts for 70% of the price of gas but less to find.
2. The Storm, when Katrina hits last sept. 2005 significant chunk of U.S. refining and gasoline prices spiked above $3 a gallon for the first time ever.
3. Hot Tempers (2006) --The lack of spare supply has kept other geopolitical events in the forefront for the last few years. Iran and the spat over its nuclear program dominated the news in early 2006, and combined with Israel's invasion of Lebanon in the summer of that year to cause another spike in gas prices to over $3 a gallon. Geopolitical events need not be shooting wars to attract attention. Analysts say general resource nationalism since 2004 is partly responsible for high oil prices.
4. Tight Supply--New supplies of oil from non-OPEC countries were supposed to come online in 2007 and ease some of these supply bottlenecks. But problems in Kazakhstan and Russia - as well as sweeping drilling bans in the United States - mean global consumption is growing twice as fast as non-OPEC production.
5. Speculators Swamp--Strong demand, tight supplies and a volatile marketplace have attracted the interest of investors - the last main contributor to high prices.

How's Everybody out here?

Hello guys, bloggers and friends here how you guys been doing? It been a little didn't show up here he he. I've been enjoying driving for couple days driving around. And today, i decided just to sit down in the computer, update my page and visit all of you. I miss you all.

Baby Birdies

Look, what i found this morning. The mommy bird that i posted here few weeks ago nesting at the orange tree in our backyard now has a baby birds. I check them first thing in the morning after i got up from bed he he. And found that mommy bird wasn't there so i look i thought it still eggs but i seen this cute tiny birds. I ran inside to get my camera and take some picture of them. I can't wait 'til they grow a little more i hope i still can take picture of them.

Driving Alone?

Today i finally drove alone i went to library to return the books i borrowed and went to store buy graduation cards for my friend. I felt really nervous when i start the car and thinking not to go. But i was thinking when should i start driving alone, i did this because i wanted to be at least can go without dragging anybody, at least have a little freedom and i can finding a job soon. So, i started the car and thinking i can do it. And thanks God i really did good and i back home safe.

I Finally got my Drivers License

Few weeks ago i really wanted to learn how to drive because i need to, i cannot start finding a job if i don't know how to drive and have a car. That's why couple months we really save money to down for a car and insurance. And in 2 weeks i really drag my honey to teach me how to drive even if he is a little tired after work just to drive even couple minutes. I didn't ask him another thing to do every weekend because i just want to drive. My hubby more scared for me when am start driving thinking about so many crazy drivers here even myself experienced it when a car just pass me and switch to my lane without using signal light in 50mph, scary isn't it? That's why a couple days ago my hubby asked me if i am ready try to get a license, then i felt scared because when i have a license i can alone without my hubby, i can drive anywhere just that make me feel like drum rumbling in heart. So, i said i don't know yet and he said ok, just take your time if you'd like to get more practise thats ok and when you think you are ready just say so! And today, it seems i boast out my courage i made an appointment for the road test. And i asked my friend if she can go with me because my husband can't make it, he still at work. I even asked my friend to drive my car going to the driver license office because i am nervous i maybe forget to turn in the corner he he. Then when we got there i even doing a little round in the parking lot until i feel a little readiness he he. And here come the driving, the instructor told me what to do and where to do. She asked to go at the back of the building do the 3 point turns, straight parking, and park in the hill the curve in the right. And i got it perfect he he. Thanks God!

My Hubby Catch a Fish!

Every day when my hubby went home from work, he will going take me out and let me drive for a while. And he always bring his fishing polls and we sit in the river for a while and put his fishing poll. Then just sit there talking, relax and waiting for the fish to eat his bait he he he. Most of the time the fish get laid by just eating his bait but didn't catch the fish he he he. But yesterday he finally got a small one he he. I told him that am gonna cook it by grilling it because i missed grilling fresh fish he he. But nope, he didn't let me he just put back the fish back to the river he he. And oh, we saw 3 dolphins too but they are too far from us, so i didn't able to get some picture of them "sigh" sad but it was a very nice scenery i seen that day.

Jeepney Ride

Do you still remember this jeepney ride in the province when we went to fiesta in other town he he he. No vacant inside its okay! just climb on top just to go to fiesta he he. I still remember that he he he, lol.

Children Beg for Food

Aren't we touch looking at this picture? A children begging for food or a little money. When i was still in the Philippines i seen them everyday in the city street asking a little money for food. I felt so bad when I didn't give any, but when one kid asked and you give him, just get ready because so many will run around you and asked also even their parents who just live and make money around the street. It just sad that sometimes parents push their kids to get money in the street by begging to other people. But this picture is from the kids in myanmar the cyclone victims and they need help.

What's Happening to the World now?

Isn't it so sad to look at them, they mourn next to the dead body of their loveone. They are just another victim another tragedy happened in china couple days ago, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake pass the country. What's happening to the world now? Is it the beginning of an end? Many tragedy happened around the world who collect a thousands of lives, destroy houses and places, millions of people needs health aid in myanmar, and millions of people jobless and no homes to live. A tornados hit in couple states here in USA and collects some life also and destroy things and properties. It scary to think what will be the next and where? Lets say prayer for all of them and hope there are more survivor that can come out alive on the earthquake victims.

Banig

Have you still remember the "Banig" a handwoven mat we used for sleeping? Yep, i still remember that and i missed it too. I still remembered the hard wood bed with that mat i used when i slept. The Banig is made from dried palm (buri), Pandan, and Sea Grass leaves depending on where region of the Philippines. And they also made a hand bag that made of banig. Isn't it pretty?

A Famous Mother

As the mother's day coming lets talk about the famous mother in the world. A mother that even how many generations come we will never forget her. Mother Theresa of Calcutta was born in Albania. At the age of 18, Mother Theresa attended the religious order called Our Lady of Loreto in Ireland. She recieved his spiritual training in ireland and Darjeeling, India. She was born with the name Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. But in 1931, mother Theresa took a name Teresa from a nun french Theresa Martin, who was canonized in 1927 with the title St. Theresa of Lisieux. In 1937, Mother Theresa took her vows. She taught for 20 years in Saint Mary's High School in Calcutta India. In September 10, 1946, Mother Theresa recieve another God's calling to serve the poorest of the poor who live in the street. She became a citizen of India in 1948. She love the country of India, she began to share her life with the poor, the sick and the hungry of calcutta, and she stablished a congreration called the Missionaries of Charity.

She begin teaching the children of the streets how to read and care for the Lepers in year 1950. In 1965, Pope Paul put the Missionaries of Charity under his protection and gave Mother Theresa permission to expand her mission through countries. Centers are opened almost everywhere around the world to assist Lepers, elderly, the blind and people living with Aids. She also opened schools for the poor and abandoned childrens.

Dollar, Rice and Gas

Today i was curious the rate of the dollar in the Philippines because i am thinking to send maybe next month. I am happy that it little bit high than the last month. And then i saw the rice price also, gezzz, it really went up so high since i was still there. The last time i bought a rice there, the good rice was in the price of 26P a kilo but now i couldn't find that price anymore. After the rice i become curious about the gas and i am shock to what i found, the gas the in the is much expensive than here in jax and other states, the prices there is like living in the expensive state here in US like california. The Unleaded gasoline in PI rate from 41.87 to 47P per liter, the deisel is from 34.41 to 39P per liter and the kerosene from 38.50 to 44.30P per liter if we convert that to dollar and beside the 4 liters is a little more than a gallon, the gas price in PI will play from $4.20 per gallon or higher... Jezzzzzzzzz, how all the poor people gonna live with that.

Cellphone

Cellphones is fastest way in terms of communication in the Philippines because it reach even in the far provinces like ours. Thru cellphone i can talk to my family whenever i want to or when i miss them. Internet still penetrating low specially in the provinces that very far from the city and because it so expensive. It said that influence of the cellphones has increased up to 63% this year and still growing and by the year 2010 it might reach up to 72%. Cellphones is just one luxury i think that many people can afford to buy or shall i say, they really save money for it even it means of cheaping food for their self he he he, i went through with that before! But when i got here in the states i didn't think having a cellphone yet, because its not much useful to me yet because i am just at home and beside we have house phone at our house and my husband has a cellphones for his job. Maybe when i start working i will get one.

It's Fiesta Time

In the Philippines, we filipino love to have fun and its obvious the way we celebrate fiesta or festival. Fiestas or any event in the community is usually featured with music, dancing, food feasts, and it considered a special opportunities for all people to extend our hospatality, friendship to one another. And even in simple family or friends get together it already a fun, talking, joking, get drunk and whatever funny simple things, like eating steamed banana with salted fish, wow, it will be a long day talk. And i missed it a lot.
And this month of May here are the fiestas that were going to celebrate, the flores de mayo, Santacruzan, Feast of San Isidro Labrador, Mayohan sa Tayabas, Carabao festival, Pahiyas, Sunduan Festival, at Obando Fertility Rites. I think the month of May is the most many festival to celebrate.
I miss the fiesta food!

Myanmar Death Tolls reach 22,000

Cyclone Nargis tore throungh the country's heartland and largest city Yangon in Myanmar early saturday May 3, 2008. More than 22,000 died and other 41,000 people still missing and thousands more need medical assistance. Up to million people may be homeless, no job and in grieve now. Some villages have been almost eradicated. Read more for this story.
